Local Area Assemblymember, Jacqui Irwin, Endorses Annie Cho for State Assembly

PORTER RANCH, CA -- Further growing the coalition of statewide elected leaders backing her campaign for Assembly District 40, small businesswoman Annie Cho announced today the endorsement of Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin. Representing California’s 44th Assembly District, Assemblymember Irwin has led on policies concerning public safety, cybersecurity, and the environment across the state and the nation.

In response to the announcement, Cho released the following statement expressing her gratitude:

Additionally, in 2016, Hillary Clinton beat Donald Trump in AD-38, in 2018 Governor Newsom defeated John Cox in AD-38, and in 2020 Joe Biden beat Donald Trump in AD-38. In the March 2020 primary, Cho was the top vote-getter and the top fundraiser, among the crowded field of Democrats who ran for the 38th Assembly District. Annie Cho is a small business owner and diversity communications expert with decades of community service and collaborative advocacy. A lifelong Democrat, Annie began her community activism in the late 1970s when she volunteered on the Free Chol Soo Lee Committee and helped get Lee off death row and out of prison. She also helped found the API Caucus of the Democratic National Committee in 1980. In 1999, Annie founded her own public relations company and has worked with clients in both private and non-profit sectors. Her company received the “Small Business Award” from the United Chamber of Commerce in SFV in 2002. Prior to launching her own business, Annie was director of public relations at LA 18, serving viewers in 18 different languages. She also produced and hosted a weekly half-hour public affairs show “LA Seoul” in Korean for which she received an Emmy nomination. Annie previously served as a commissioner at the Los Angeles Board of Water and Power – the largest municipal utility in the United States, from 2001-2005. She was appointed and reappointed by Mayor James Hahn and unanimously confirmed by the Los Angeles City Council. Annie immigrated to the United States from South Korea in 1971 and is fluent in English and in Korean. She has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from California State University, Los Angeles.
